The Elmhurst community gathered for a Day of Remembrance Ceremony last Friday morning on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at Fire Station #2 to honor the lives lost, remember the courage and sacrifice of first responders and reflect on the events of that day. City officials, including Mayor Scott Levin (shown here) and Police Chief Mike McLean, spoke to those gathered. Also on display during the ceremony was the sculpture created by local sculptor Jason Peot which contains a piece of rail from the Twin Towers given to the city to memorialize the fateful day of 9/11/2001 in the Elmhurst community.
