Bill Kennedy (age 77) passed away peacefully at his home Friday morning, Aug. 7, 2026.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 54 years, Cindi (nee Schenck), son, Bill (Willow Creek, CA), daughter, Jamie (Mt. Ida, AR), sister, Susan Kennedy (Three Oaks, MI), and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Donna Tannariello and Gail Kolar.
Born in Oak Park, IL to parents the late William and Jean Kennedy, Bill was raised and resided most of his life in Elmhurst. After graduating from York Community High School, he attended Indiana State University and Southern Illinois University, and then began a long and successful career as a brick mason and business agent. He was a proud member of Bricklayer’s Union Local 56 for over 30 years.
For 14 years, Bill and Cindi also owned and operated the Fire Bell Pub in Elmhurst.
Bill truly was a “laid back kind of guy” who enjoyed his family tremendously, as well as the many friends he and Cindi gathered throughout the years. He loved to read, travel, and go fishing. He had a real passion for gardening and planted many trees, flowers, and vegetables during his lifetime, which he always enjoyed sharing with his neighbors. His greatest accomplishment was raising two strong, amazing, and good children.
Bill was loved by all and he will be deeply missed.
