In celebration of Independence Day, the Bensenville Park District has announced holiday hours and special offerings recognizing America 250 on Saturday, July 4.
The Bensenville Water Park & Splash Pad, located at 1100 W. Wood Street, will be open from noon to 5 p.m. for families to cool off and enjoy the summer holiday. As a tribute to those who have served, U.S. Armed Forces veterans will receive free admission to the water park on July 4. Proof of military service may be required.
The Deer Grove Leisure Center, located at 1000 W. Wood St., will be closed in observance of the holiday. The DGLC closure means Wood St. Fitness facilities will also be closed, and no classes will be held Saturday. The Aqua Fitness class scheduled for Friday evening has been rescheduled to 9 a.m. Friday morning, July 3.
The White Pines Golf Club will be open from dawn to dusk July 4; tee times are still available by visiting WhitePinesGolf.com. The kitchen at 37 Bar and Grill will be open until 3 p.m. and the bar will close at 5 p.m.
Fischer Farm, located at 16W680 Old Grand Avenue, will be open for outdoor exploration, though its buildings and farm house (including the Farm Shop) will remain closed. Staff will be working behind the scenes tending to animals’ needs.
All other district parks will remain open for public enjoyment. However, the Bensenville Railroad Museum at Veterans Park will be closed July 4 and will reopen noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The museum invites visitors to explore its exhibit, “Mexican Boxcar Camps Era in Aurora, Illinois: 1920-1960,” Tuesdays and weekends through Aug. 16.
