On July 31, in honor of International Lifeguard Appreciation Day, a team of Villa Park aquatics staff competed against Lombard lifeguards in the 2026 Lifeguard Games at Paradise Bay Water Park in Lombard. The pictured Villa Park team joined six Lombard teams in the event. The team of Villa Park lifeguards placed second in the brick retrieval contest and finished third in the five-person relay. “We’re so proud of our lifeguards and everything they do to keep our community safe,” stated the Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department and the Village of Villa Park in a social media post saluting the village’s aquatics staff. “Congratulations on an outstanding day of competition, and thank you for all you do!”
