Plan in a Can is a free emergency preparedness program designed to help older adults keep critical medical information readily available for first responders during a medical emergency. Each kit includes forms to record medications, medical history, allergies, physician information and emergency contacts, all stored inside a clearly marked container that is kept in the home where paramedics and firefighters can quickly locate it when seconds matter.

The program is a collaboration among the City of Elmhurst, the Elmhurst Fire Department, Endeavor Health and The Roosevelt at Salt Creek, bringing together local government, emergency services, health care and senior living providers to help older adults remain safe and independent in their own homes.

The Roosevelt at Salt Creek, 400 W. Butterfield Road, is the first senior living community in Elmhurst to serve as a public distribution site for Plan in a Can kits, helping expand access to this important community safety resource. Kits are available free of charge to Elmhurst-area seniors and their families at The Roosevelt at Salt Creek on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon.

By ensuring that first responders have immediate access to accurate medical information, Plan in a Can can help support faster, more informed care and provide added peace of mind for older adults and their loved ones.
