Police remind residents to call 911 to report hazards

Posted

The Villa Park Police Department issued a recent reminder to residents to call 911 to report hazards in the village.

“If you see something, please report it by dialing 911,” stated the police department in its Aug. 1 message. The department cited missing or displaced manhole covers, flooded streets or intersections, and downed trees, power lines, or other roadway obstructions as hazards that pose a danger to the public and warrant a 911 call.

“Please call 911 to report the hazard,” noted the police department. “Although the issue may not be handled directly by the Police Department, our officers and telecommunications personnel can notify Public Works or the appropriate agency so the condition can be addressed.”

The police department’s message to residents stressed that it is always better to report a potential hazard and ensure someone is aware of it than to assume it has already been reported.

“Thank you for helping us keep the community safe,” related the police department at the conclusion of its message.
