The new synthetic athletic surface at Montini Catholic High School’s John L. Duffy Memorial Stadium is in place for the start of the 2026-27 school year. Fifteen years ago, before the start of the 2011-12 school year, a synthetic athletic surface was installed to replace the stadium’s grass field. That surface was removed and replaced in June. The stadium’s new field is named “Chris Andriano Field” in honor of Montini’s former football coach. Andriano guided the Broncos to six IHSA state championships during his 38-season tenure (1979-2016) as the program’s head coach. Montini’s football team, which won state titles in 2024 and 2025 under head coach Mike Bukovsky, begins its 2026 season with an Aug. 21 home game against the Cornjerkers of Hoopeston Area High School. The 2025 Broncos posted a perfect 14-0 record and won the IHSA Class 4A state championship.
