Mariners finish their regular season with a meet at Woodridge

Villa Park swimmers will close out the season at White Division competitions on July 11 and July 18

The Villa Park Mariners concluded their 2026 regular season with last week’s meet against the Woodridge Sea Lions. The Sea Lions outscored the Mariners 436-221 in the July 1 meet’s team standings.

Villa Park’s individual champions in the meet included Kingston Kuhl, who won three races in the 8-and-under boys division. He earned his first victory in the 25-yard butterfly, which he completed in 20.91 seconds, and added first-place finishes in the 25-yard backstroke (24.24) and the 25-yard breaststroke (25.70).

Penelope Kuhl of the Mariners won two races in the meet’s 9-10 girls level. She swam to a win in the 50-yard freestyle (32.79) and completed the 100-yard freestyle in a first-place time of 1 minute, 15.05 seconds.

Lydia Aldana of Villa Park won the 100-yard individual medley (1:13.03) and the 50-yard breaststroke (37.22) in the 13-14 girls level. Caleb Vaughan provided the Mariners with first-place performances in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.90) and the 50-yard butterfly (31.43) in the 13-14 boys division. Villa Park’s Naomi Aldana won the 100-yard individual medley (1:08.22) and the 50-yard butterfly (28.52) in the meet’s 15-18 girls level.

The Mariners’ other individual champions in the meet at Woodridge included: Ethan Aldana (8-and-under boys; 50-yard freestyle; 40.67), Riley Doheny (9-10 girls; 50-yard breaststroke; 44.48), Ryan Lloyd (9-10 boys; 50-yard freestyle; 39.33), Ary Carrola (13-14 girls; 50-yard butterfly; 32.89), Phoebe Aldana (15-18 girls; 50-yard breaststroke; 36.49), Jurgen Carrola (15-18 boys; 100-yard individual medley; 1:18.52) and Ian Mueller (15-18 boys; 50-yard backstroke; 34.32).

Jurgen Carrola joined Zeke Little, Manny Brisbois and Ian Mueller to win two relay races in the July 1 meet’s 15-18 boys level. The four Mariners won the 200-yard medley relay (2:05.47) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.59).

Villa Park’s other winning relay teams in the meet against Woodridge included the 8-and-under girls team of Madison Doheny, Quinn Turner, Mia Boswell and Riley Doheny, which won the 100-yard freestyle relay (1:45.12). The Mariners’ 13-14 girls foursome of Teia Fragoso, Lydia Aldana, Ary Carrola and Brooklyn Gibney won the 200-yard medley relay (2:26.10). Villa Park’s 13-14 boys quartet of Gabriel Clark, Ryan Mueller, Caleb Vaughan and Liam Grobe won the 200-yard medley relay (2:37.45). Phoebe Aldana, Lilly Buscher, Megan Hasler and Naomi Aldana swam to a victory for the Mariners in the 15-18 girls level’s 200-yard freestyle relay (1:59.43).

Some of Villa Park’s swimmers will finish the season by competing in the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference’s White Division ‘B’ Meet in Bloomingdale this Saturday, July 11. Other Mariners will finish the season by swimming in the White Division ‘A’ Meet in Woodridge on July 18.
