Gavin Conway of Lombard, who is now a senior at Montini Catholic High School, recently earned the school's 2026 Robert Huntoon Memorial Scholarship. The award, presented to a student entering his/her senior year and demonstrating excellence in math, was announced this spring at Montini's Math Awards. The Robert Huntoon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student each year who best exemplifies excellence and achievement in mathematics. The scholarship is named in honor of former Math Department Chair Robert Huntoon, whose impact on Montini Catholic mathematics education continues to this day. Huntoon founded the Bronco Math Team and conceived the idea for Montini’s annual Math Contest, helping establish a culture of academic competition, problem-solving and mathematical excellence at Montini. This scholarship recognizes a student who reflects that same passion for mathematics, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to academic achievement.
