The IC Catholic Prep girls volleyball team took third at the recent Timothy Christian-Westmont tournament, losing to Timothy Christian in the playoff portion of the event.
The Knights defeated Trinity, Elgin St. Edward and Elgin River Valley Christian in the tournament.
ICCP (3-4 overall) also lost to Woodstock Marian Central Catholic in its first Chicagoland Christian Conference contest.
“We competed strong, however, we fell short,” Knights coach Karen Russ said.
Against Marian, sophomore Meggie Goggin had seven kills and three blocks, while Libby Phillips had seven blocks.
The Knights hosted Trinity in another Chicagoland Christian Conference match earlier this week as part of Youth Knight where the ICCP volleyball program welcomed all grammar-school students to attend and cheer the teams on. In addition to the three high school matches, attendees were treated to raffles and games to play.
ICCP started play in the Wheaton Classic yesterday and will continue the tournament on Saturday. “This tournament brings a lot of strong competition and will bring out the best in our team,” Russ said.
