Janet H. Rowe, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026.
Born on May 16, 1932, in Oak Park, Illinois, Janet was the daughter of Arthur Wilson Rowe and Gertrude Schumacher Rowe. She was raised in Elmhurst, where she spent her formative years before later making her home in Lombard, Illinois, for much of her adult life.
Janet was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and remained a lifelong Badger fan. She dedicated many years of service to the Illinois Tollway before her retirement.
Janet had a lifelong passion for art and creativity. She was an active member of the Elmhurst Artists' Guild and found great enjoyment in artistic expression throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for flowers, especially the many pots and planters that flourished on her balcony.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marilyn Rowe Packer; and her nephew, John Shallcross.
She is survived by her nephews, Scott Shallcross and Gary Shallcross; cousins Polly O'Donnell and Thomas Armstrong; as well as many grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members, and friends.
Janet will be remembered for her artistic talents, appreciation of nature, and the many memories shared with family and friends throughout her life.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elmhurst. Interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
