DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced Monday that the investigation continues into a Lombard man recently charged and detained pre-trial at the state’s request for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple young girls he met via social media.
Adam Johnson, 25, appeared in First Appearance Court late last month charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault (Class 1 felony), six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse (Class 2 felony) and one count of possession of child sexual abuse material (Class 3 felony). As the investigation is ongoing, anyone with information concerning Johnson is asked to contact their local police department.
Through the course of the DuPage County Children’s Advocacy Center’s ongoing efforts into combatting child sex abuse, it is alleged that Johnson targeted multiple underage girls on social media, arranged to meet them, and engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with at least two of these minor females.
It is alleged that from approximately Jan. 12, 2023, through Jan. 8, 2025, Johnson sexually abused one of the girls, who was born in 2008, on multiple occasions at his apartment in Lombard, and that he sexually assaulted this girl on one occasion. It is further alleged that on Feb. 15, 2025, Johnson sexually assaulted and abused the second girl, who was born in 2010, at his Lombard apartment.
Following an investigation into the above accusations, Judge Michael Burton issued an arrest warrant for Johnson on July 20. On July 27, Lombard Police Department officers took Johnson into custody. He appeared in First Appearance Court the following day where Judge Joshua Dieden granted the state’s motion to detain him pre-trial.
“The allegations against Mr. Johnson are extremely disturbing,” Berlin said. “The safety and well-being of our children remain my office’s top priority, and anyone caught engaging in this type of conduct will quickly find themselves apprehended, charged and, if found guilty, facing a significant amount of time behind bars.
“I thank the Lombard and Glen Ellyn Police Departments as well as the DuPage County and Kane County Sheriff’s Offices for their cooperative efforts in this matter. I urge anyone who may have information regarding Mr. Johnson to contact their local police department.”
Johnson’s case has been assigned to Judge Mia McPherson.
