Elmhurst Farmers Market. Recurring weekly on Wednesdays from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. until Oct. 28 at 149 W. Brush Hill Road in the parking lot of Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, visit the market for an array of baked goods, pastries, breads, local honey, olives, fresh salsa, focaccias, dairy, eggs, meats, cheeses, eggrolls, homemade ice cream, kettle corn and crunchy cheese. New this year: fresh pressed juices, roasted nuts/candies, loose leaf teas, mushrooms, and fermented vegetables. Looking for produce that was harvested yesterday? Umbrella Sky Elmhurst 2026. Presented free, the Elmhurst City Centre is excited to bring back one of the world's most famous and beautiful art installations back to the Centre: Umbrella Sky Elmhurst 2026. Snap a photo under the Umbrellas at Schiller Court, Color Rain at 110 S. Cottage Hill, and Color Dots at 254 N. York. A new set of art, featuring a fresh color palette, will replace the initial installations in early July and will be on display until mid-September. Elmhurst Craft Beer Fest. The Elmhurst Heritage Foundation is brewing up the 11th annual Elmhurst Craft Beer Fest from 2-6 p.m. Plan to sample craft beer, cider and seltzers from over 50 breweries while enjoying music on the grounds of the Elmhurst History Museum. All this, while helping to generate funds which benefit exhibits and educational initiatives at the Elmhurst History Museum and Churchville Schoolhouse. The fest has attracted over 1,000 individuals from Elmhurst and more than 57+ other communities throughout the Chicago area. The fest is actively looking for sponsorship on multiple levels, volunteers and breweries who may wish to participate. Illinois premiere of documentary “10 Good Men.” The Elmhurst Veterans Commission will present the Illinois premiere of 10 Good Men, a documentary sharing the firsthand stories of 10 World War II veterans who flew the B-17 Flying Fortress. Director Trent “TJ” Jones will attend the Elmhurst screenings and participate in a question-and-answer session with audiences, providing an opportunity to hear directly from the filmmaker about the documentary and the stories behind its creation. Immanuel Lutheran Oktoberfest. From 3-8 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 148 E. 3rd, bring your family and friends for an unforgettable community celebration. There will be dancing and live music, including a special Bach concert showcasing talented local musicians in the church at 3:30 p.m., followed by the classic polka tunes of Die Musikmeisters under the big tent from 5-8 p.m. Indulge in German food and craft beer. bratwurst, schnitzel, pretzels, apple strudel, and cold German beer—all available for purchase throughout the event. This hands-on introductory 6-session class will give you the fundamentals you need to start carving safely and confidently. You’ll explore different styles of woodcarving, learn about essential tools and equipment, discover how different types of wood behave under the knife, and practice techniques for making safe, clean cuts. Then you’ll put those skills to work. You’ll practice basic cuts before moving on to a suggested beginner project, with plenty of individual guidance and feedback along the way. Heroes and Villains. Presented by the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra from 3-5 p.m. at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill, featuring fan-favorites by John Williams (Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones), Alan Silvestri (Avengers), and ‘Golden’ from KPop Demon Hunters, this program highlights dastardly villains and helpful heroes. The life of aviator Bessie Coleman. From 7-8 p.m. presented free live in-person and virtually on Zoom by the Elmhurst Public Library, Bessie Coleman, portrayed by her great-niece Gigi Coleman, shares the experiences that led her to become the first African American to earn her international pilot’s license and the first Black woman in the world to fly an airplane. With Bessie’s unwillingness to take no for an answer, she achieved many accomplishments in the U.S. in the field of aviation and led the way for African Americans to pursue their dreams of flying.
