Gary L. Buehre, of Villa Park, passed away on July 3, 2026. Loving husband of 57 years to Judy Buehre (née Kumnick). Gary and Judy were introduced on a blind date and they married on June 21, 1969 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Broadview, Illinois.
Dear father of Suzanne Gagliano and Steven Buehre. Dear Grandpa to Allison Gagliano and Michael Gagliano. Brother to twin sister Sandra (the late Robert) Jones and brother-in-law to Richard Kumnick. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Gladys Buehre.
Gary proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 as a sonar specialist. In recognition of his military service, he was honored to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. later in life, a meaningful tribute to the sacrifices of America’s veterans.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary found great joy in fishing and was an active member of fishing clubs in Villa Park and Riverside. He also enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition of local dart leagues, forming many lasting friendships through these activities. Gary was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. He generously shared his time and talents by serving in numerous roles, including the Board of Property, Head Usher, and mentor to young people through the church’s after-school youth program. His steadfast commitment to his church reflected his deep faith and his desire to serve others.
A Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 8 at Brust Funeral Home Villa Park, 305 S. Princeton Ave. Villa Park, IL. Lying-In-State on Thursday, July 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church Villa Park, 300 Ardmore Ave, Villa Park, IL. A Funeral Service was held at the church. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace immediately followed.
