Fitness Dayz wraps up with Aug. 15 Boot Camp, Veterans Potluck Brunch

Posted

The Bensenville Park District will close out its summer Fitness Dayz series with a morning of movement, camaraderie and community during the free Fitness Dayz Outdoor Boot Camp at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Varble Park, 1000 W. Wood St., followed by the Veterans Potluck Brunch at 10 a.m. in the adjacent Kiwanis Shelter.

The event, presented in conjunction with Wood Street Fitness, is open to ages 14 and older and begins with an energizing full-body workout from 9 to 10 a.m. before transitioning into a potluck brunch for local veterans. Veteran registration is free through NEDSRA.org.

The Outdoor Boot Camp will challenge participants of all abilities with a variety of circuits focused on strength, balance, core, speed, agility and resistance training. Designed for all fitness levels, the workout encourages participants to move at their own pace while providing modifications for every exercise to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

Whether participants are longtime fitness enthusiasts or just beginning a wellness journey, the Outdoor Boot Camp offers an opportunity to get active, enjoy the outdoors and finish the summer on a high note.

"The Fitness Dayz series has shown that staying active can be fun, social and rewarding," Recreation Supervisor Ty Beshiri said. "We're excited to wrap up the summer with a workout that welcomes everyone, then bring the community together afterward to celebrate and honor our veterans over brunch."

Participants should wear comfortable workout shoes and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the workout.

The Veterans Potluck Brunch begins immediately following the boot camp at 10 a.m. in the Kiwanis Shelter, offering veterans an opportunity to relax, share a meal and enjoy good company.

The free event concludes the Bensenville Park District's popular Fitness Dayz summer series, which has encouraged residents of all ages and abilities to explore new ways to stay healthy while enjoying the community's parks and outdoor spaces.
