Families and friends are invited to enjoy an evening of history, inspiration and outdoor entertainment during a free screening of "Sarah's Oil" at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Fischer Farm, 16W680 Old Grand Ave.
The special ‘Movie at the Farm’ presentation begins at dusk, offering guests the opportunity to relax beneath the summer sky while enjoying an inspiring true story in the farm's picturesque setting. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, family and friends for an unforgettable evening.
"Sarah's Oil" tells the remarkable true story of Sarah Rector, a young African American girl in the early 1900s who unexpectedly becomes one of the wealthiest children in America after oil is discovered on her allotted land. As her newfound fortune attracts national attention, Sarah must navigate the opportunities and challenges that accompany sudden fame and wealth.
Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase inside the Fischer Farm Shop throughout the evening.
"There's something truly special about watching a movie outdoors at Fischer Farm," Fischer Farm Manager Christine Shiel said. "The peaceful surroundings create the perfect backdrop for a film like 'Sarah's Oil,' which celebrates perseverance, resilience and history. We invite everyone to bring a chair or blanket, enjoy some refreshments and make memories with family and friends."
The free screening is part of the Bensenville Park District's summer “Movies in the Park” series. The series concludes with a free showing of "Selena" at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Krempels Park.
