The Bensenville Park District celebrated 23 children who completed Tiny Tot Preschool at its end-of-year completion and graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. Eight more completed the Little Sprouts program and are eligible to graduate to preschool.
Based on Illinois Early Learning Standards, Tiny Tot Preschool emphasizes self-discovery, teamwork and independent thinking for ages 3-5. Children are introduced to language arts, literacy, math, social studies, science and nature exploration through a variety of learning centers and hands-on activities. The experienced, professional teachers foster a nurturing environment that addresses the individual needs of each child. Children must be age appropriate by Sept. 1, 2026.
The daily activities provide opportunities for children to explore, imagine, investigate and engage in real-world situations. Children are encouraged to develop a sense of independence and self-confidence. The goal is to assist in nurturing a child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth through play—a child's most important work.
The Bensenville Park District’s Little Sprouts program for ages 2-3 prepares children for the preschool experience with an integrated curriculum focused on social, emotional, cognitive and physical development with activities including circle time, exposure to colors, shapes, numbers and letters. Children are introduced to a variety of learning centers such as dramatic play, sensory, literacy, music, blocks, puzzles, and nature exploration. A snack, gym time and play in the outdoor classroom are also included. Children must be 2 years old by Sept. 1, 2026.
Tiny Tot Preschool programs begin the week of Aug. 24 and run through May 21. Classes for 3–and-4-year-olds run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ages 4-5 run 9-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and classes for ages 3-5 run 12:30-3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Little Sprouts program runs 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 26 to May 20.
